Founded in 1926, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) is the largest national education association dedicated to the advancement of education that prepares youth and adults for successful careers. ACTE’s membership includes more than 29,000 career and technical educators, administrators and counselors, and others involved in career and technical education programs at all levels of education.

The association’s national headquarters is based in Alexandria, Virginia.  Association policy is set by a 20-member elected Board of Directors, including a president, past-president and president-elect and 17 vice-presidents representing the association’s 12 divisions and five geographic regions. An approximately 25-member staff manages day-to-day operations of the association.

ACTE is committed to enhancing the job performance and satisfaction of its members; to increasing public awareness and appreciation for career and technical programs; and to assuring growth in local, state and federal funding for these programs by communicating and working with legislators and government leaders.
